Utah lawmakers allocated $65 million for K-12 career and technical education centers after visiting the Davis School District’s Catalyst Center. School leaders say it’s different from the traditional vocational training model.

Salt Lake Community College has one of the largest in-person prison education programs in the nation. Incarcerated students can also get technical certificates, a high school diploma and female inmates can also get a bachelor’s degree.

The $50 million purchase will include a 215,000-square-foot fully-furnished building and 16 acres of developable land.
